Church of Scientology International Announces World-wide Human Rights Hero Contest
March 10, 2006
Claire Kevitt and Tyler Hynes Announce Human Rights Hero Contest
At a Hollywood event featuring Golden Globe-winning actor, Anne Archer and Ms. Norma Foster, President of the Pacific-LA Chapter of the United Nations Association,
Youth for Human Rights International (YHRI) in partnership with the
Human Rights Department of the Church of Scientology unveiled two new international human rights awards. The awards sparked so much interest that the event was webcast to human rights advocates around the world.
The deadline for nominations for the two awards, which recognize outstanding achievements in the promotion of human rights, is April 30th, 2006. The Youth for Human Rights Hero Award recognizes those twenty-one years of age and under and the Know Your Rights Hero Award is for adults.
Ms. Anne Archer, praised the awards, which acknowledge "ordinary individuals doing extraordinary things," and announced her own human rights initiative, the creation of Artists for Human Rights International, a human rights group which works with artists to forward positive human rights measures and overcome the repression of artists and their work.
The event also featured Canadian actor Tyler Hynes, spokesperson for Youth for Human Rights in Canada; Al Buttnor, event coordinator and Director of Public Affairs and Human Rights of the Church of Scientology of Toronto; Claire Kevitt, Youth spokesperson for YHRI; Gayle Thorson, Chaplain of the Laguna Beach Police Department; Gino Montesino, actor and anti-gang activist; Leisa Goodman, Human Rights Director of the Church of Scientology International and Mary Shuttleworth, founder of Youth for Human Rights International.
"There are human rights heroes in all walks of life," said Ms. Goodman, "people whose work is rarely acknowledged. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights was written in the belief that the 'recognition of the inherent dignity and of the equal and inalienable rights of all members of the human family is the foundation of freedom, justice and peace in the world.' It is our hope that these awards will inspire thousands more to join in the crusade to create peace through human rights. As L. Ron Hubbard, the founder of the Scientology religion once wrote, 'Human rights must be made a fact, not an idealistic dream.'"
Information about eligibility for the Human Rights Hero Awards and nomination forms are available at www.youthforhumanrights.org.
One of my children is learning how to study better using
Scientology study technologyHe is learning HOW to learn - meaning, how to study in such a way that he truly understands what he is learning. It's making a big difference - I've noticed him reacing for the dictionary so he can look up words and it's such a good thing to know that he has this valuable tool.
Tom Cruise overcame the "dyslexia" label through using
study technology as well.

I really admire artists - they create a better world for everybody! I am not an artist in any easy-to-see sort of way. I don't decorate my house well, I wear boring clothing, I don't paint or draw or sing or write music or poetry. But I admire people who do!
My friend,
Jon von Gunten is a true artist. He writes beautifully - an experienced public relations guy and
business writer. He also writes great, fun poems -

Jon is one of those brilliant people who creates art in his daily life - I admire that so much!
One of the greatest things about living in Southern California is the ready access to all sorts of fabulous artists.
One of my favorites is Helene Kress - she does
wedding videography in Anaheim and other areas around Los Angeles. Besides videography, she also is a talent manager (her daughter is a successful young actor) and she is a talented actor herself.
Other great artists can be found through the group

British Newspaper Group Supports Tom Cruise in his Campaign Against Ritalin
Tom Cruise is gaining support in UK media circles.
(PRWEB) July 5, 2005 --
Tom Cruise has now gained the support of the Chairman of an influential London Newspaper Group, Mr. John Mappin.
The Mappin family are a very well known English family. They founded Mappin and Webb and have always been strong opinion leaders deep within the heart of the more conservative British media and establishment.
Earlier this week Tom Cruise slammed the psychiatric profession for the use of destructive psychiatric drugs such as Ritalin on children.
"It is vital that parents and people in the media really take a look at the truth of what Tom Cruise is saying," said Mr. Mappin. "
Tom Cruise has been doing a fantastic job of exposing the total
fraud that psychiatry is and the very real
dangers of the drugs and treatments that psychiatry is addicting our society to.
"The plan of modern psychiatry could be summed up as simply '
A world on Drugs.' Evidence of psychiatry's total lack of understanding of the mind is all around us and is totally evident in their treatments. Our children have been targeted by psychiatric interests as a profit centre," Mr. Mappin said. "The celebrities of today have become the political leaders of our time and are creating tomorrow's political and social landscape. What Tom Cruise is doing to make people aware of the dangers of drugging children with Ritalin and with other destructive drugs is to be highly commended," he said.
The British Newspaper Group commended Mr.
Tom Cruise very highly on the front page of its newspapers this week.

Tom Cruise - Scientology
Here's another story about Tom Cruise:
Scientology Helped Me
"New York, July 11--(AP) Tom Cruise said he learned to overcome his learning disability through Scientology.
"When I was about 7, I had been labeled dyslexic," he told People magazine for its July 21 issue. "I'd try to concentrate on what I was reading, then I'd get to the end of the page and have very little memory of anything I'd read. I would go blank, feel anxious, nervous, bored, frustrated, dumb." After "Top Gun" came out in 1986, Cruise became a Scientologist and discovered the ``
Study Technology'' the religion's founder,
L. Ron Hubbard, developed in the 1960s. "I realized I could absolutely learn anything that I wanted to learn," Cruise said. Now the 41-year-old actor is a founding board member of the
Hollywood Education and Literacy Project, a nonprofit group that uses
Hubbard's teaching techniques in a secular setting."

Have you seen the great Mickey Mouse televisions? They are red with big black Mickey Mouse ears - which are speakers.
Well, I think they are adorable!
One lewd image that jumped out at me was on the Winnie the Pooh Ride, in Critter Country.
As the car is leaving the building, and the ride is pretty much over, you go through a set of doors. The whole place has dripping honey painted all around - the walls, the floor, the ceiling. On the right door, very large and very obvious is a breast, made out of honey.
I was amazed and astounded that this was there - so, so obvious.
But then, maybe everyone was so busy looking for Hidden Mickeys, that they missed the breasts entirely!

There was an article in the LA Times the other day about Hidden Mickeys. What I find really funny is that a Disney spokesperson told the reporter that the Hidden Mickeys thing "is definitely a secret" - yet here he was, talking about it!
The "official" stance had always been, "there are no Hidden Mickeys". My husband said, "I think they made the Hidden Mickeys, originally, to detract from hidden [LEWD things] around the park."
How about Hidden Lewd Images...? Yes, they do exist at Disneyland!

Okay, no Hidden Mickey today.
I just want to mention how nice Disneyland looks right now, all ready for the holidays!
There are Mickey-shaped wreaths everywhere, and one can find thousands of "Hidden Mickeys" in the wreaths made of Christmas bulbs.
There is a gigantic tree on Main Street. Okay, it's a tree created from branches - no fir trees grow this big and beautiful! And a beautiful Santa's sleigh you can sit in next to it, great for picture-taking.
The fireworks every night feature SNOW! (Okay, so it's bubbles, but they look like fat Midwest snowflakes.)
The music is great, very holiday-ish. Even "It's a Small World" is playing Christmas music.
If you haven't seen Disneyland at Christmastime, then you must come!

Walk over to the GoCoaster, as though you are going to ride it. Actually, get in line. The line starts between Mickey's driveway and Daffy Duck's boat. The line wraps around, and is surrounded by walls with blue rocks in them. Go all the way down the line until the first turn in the line. The line makes a u-turn there - with rocks lining walls on the outside, and a fence between the way down and the way back up the u-shaped turn.
(I hope this makes sense...)
At the end of the straight line, BEFORE you turn to go up the u-shape, there are 3 blue stones cemented into the wall in the shape of Mickey.
These are really obvious and hard to miss, once you know it's there.
Have fun on the GoCoaster! Don't stay in line if it's a long line - come back in the evening, when all of ToonTown is quiet, and you can go on the ride again and again and again...

Okay, I lied yesterday. That's not my favorite Hidden Mickey.
My
favorite Hidden Mickey is the first Hidden Mickey I personally discovered on my own, without anyone telling me about it beforehand.
In line for the Indiana Jones ride, you will walk through passageways that look like they are part of an excavation site into an ancient temple. When you come to the part of the passageway where you can first see people exiting the ride (pretty early on in the line), you can see it. There are bamboo poles that go from the wall to the ceiling, as if holding up the ceiling. On the wall near the base of the second bamboo pole on the left (the exiting side of the walkway), there are cracks in the wall. It looks almost like 3 stones put into the wall near the bamboo. They are in an almost perfect Mickey shape!
